Mohammed Kudus has been named to the Champions League team of the week following his outstanding performance for Ajax, who started their season with a convincing home win on Wednesday.

The Ghana international was named man of the match after leading the Dutch champions to a 4-0 victory over Rangers at Amsterdam ArenA.

The 22-year-old dominated the game from start to finish, receiving a standing ovation when he was substituted in the 89th minute.

Kudus scored the game’s third goal, an absolute stunner, while completing five dribbles, completing 100% of his passes, and winning five ground duels.

After assisting the second goal, he scored in the 32nd minute. Kudus eluded defenders to enter the penalty area on the left side and fire an arrow into the post and into the net for his first Champions League goal.

Kudus attempted to force his way out of Ajax in the recently ended transfer window due to a lack of regular playing time.

The 22-year-old had been relegated to the bench and boycotted training in an attempt to secure a move to Everton.

Kudus agreed personal terms with Everton, but Ajax blocked the transfer.

Kudus was handed his first start of the season against Rangers after scoring in Ajax’s 4-0 win over Cambuur last Saturday, and the talented playmaker scored again.
