Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac says they have accomplished their mission after completing a double over Zimbabwe in the World Cup qualifiers.

Three days after a 3-1 victory in Cape Coast, the Black Stars claimed a 1-0 victory over Zimbabwe in Harare on Tuesday afternoon.

Ghana now sit top of Group G, albeit temporarily because South Africa play Ethiopia later on Tuesday. A win for Bafana Bafana in Johannesburg will see them take back the first position.

Speaking after the game, Rajevac expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance and thanked Ghana Football Association, players and his technical team for the immense support since he commenced his second spell.

“As you all know, this was my first camp after I came back and I have to say that I am really really grateful to everybody; my players, the medical department, the technical team and GFA. We all did this together,” Rajevac said.

“I felt immense support from everybody these days so really feel happy because we managed to accomplish our mission to win these two matches and to get six points so that we can still be in contention for the World Cup.”

“This match was hard as the previous one. I want to congratulate my players for the performance and also the Zimbabwean team and coach for excellent fighting and desire.”

Rajevac was re-appointed in September after Charles Akonnor was sacked and the Serb appears to be on the right track.

Ghana will progress to the final qualifying round if they beat Ethiopia and South Africa in their remaining games in November.
