Serbian Milovan Rajevac is leading the race to succeed Charles Akonnor who was sacked as Black Stars coach on Monday.
Rajevac, according to multiple reports, has been contacted by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and has agreed to return for a second stint.
Rajevac’s first stint lasted for two years between 2008 and 2010 and guided Ghana to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations in Angola.
After that, Rajevac’s Black Stars almost reached the semi-final of the FIFA World Cup as they narrowly lost to Uruguay in the quarter-final via penalty shootout.
Rajevac quit Ghana in September after for a lucrative job in Saudi Arabia where he was appointed head coach of Al-Ahli.
Since then, he has managed four teams including Algeria and Qatar. He has however not been contracted to any team since 2019 when he parted ways with Thailand.
