Medeama suffered a resounding 3-0 defeat to Young Africans FC of Tanzania in their CAF Champions League Group D match on Wednesday at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium.

The Ghanaian champions faced challenges before the game, failing to secure a location for training, and this seemed to impact their performance. They allowed Pacôme Zouzoua, who had scored the equaliser in the first meeting two weeks in Kumasi, to open the scoring for Young Africans in the first half.

Jonathan Sowah had the opportunity to level the score for Medeama from the penalty spot, but unfortunately, he missed. This seemed to give Young Africans momentum, and they went on to score two more goals against goalkeeper Felix Kyei, sealing a convincing victory.

To make matters worse for Medeama, Sowah was sent off in the game’s latter stages, earning a second yellow card. As a result, he will miss Medeama’s next game, a crucial match against Al Ahly in Kumasi.

After this defeat, Medeama finds themselves in third place in Group D with four points, along with CR Belouizdad, whose game against leaders Al Ahly has been postponed due to the Egyptians’ participation in the Club World Cup. Young Africans, on the other hand, have moved up to second place, still in contention for a qualification spot.
