English Premier League side Liverpool booked a place in the final of the 2018 UEFA Champions League with a 7-6 aggregate win over AS Roma. In the second leg of the semi-final played on Wednesday at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, the Giallorossis won by 4-2 but failed to make it to the final as the first leg – played barely a week ago – had ended 5-2 in favour of the Reds. The visitors opened the score at the fully-packed Stadio Olimpico after just nine minutes of play as Senegalese Sadio Mane completed a quick counter. Though this was equalised with an own goal by James Milner, Liverpool went ahead again with a first goal in the campaign for Dutchman Georginio Wijnaldum. The second half recorded three more goals. Eden Dzeko equalised for La Magica before Radja Nainggolan got a brace – the second one from the spot in injury time. But it was too little too late as the third-placed side in the Italian Serie A missed out on the May 26 final to the third-placed side in the English Premier League. Liverpool will face Spanish La Liga side Real Madrid in the final in Kiev, Ukraine. Madrid reached the final after going past German champions Bayern Munich on Tuesday.
