The former Liberty Professionals play maker has been an important player for Sporting Kansas City since completing a move to the Major League Soccer at the end of the 2016/2017 Ghana Premier League season. His importance for the club has been underlined by the goals he has scored for the club. Three goals in 25 games and another in the US Open Cup final have projected his profile in the MLS since his arrival in 2017. Having been watched by Black Stars head coach Kwesi Appiah, during the tactician’s tour of the USA last year, Blessing was expecting to be invited to the national team, but that has not materialized and is now venting his frustrations on the technical team of the Black Stars. “I am ready to switch nationality and play for USA. I’m not focused on the Black Stars because I have done enough to merit an invite but to no avail. One man’s poison is another man’s food, so if I don’t get chance to play for Ghana and USA offer me the opportunity, I will grasp it with my two hands,” Latif said to Accra-based radio station Happy FM. “I’m ever ready for them to call me because I believe it is a place where every footballer would want to ply his trade and enjoy football. Ever since I moved there my level of thinking in every aspect of life has escalated drastically,” he added. Appiah has been giving new players the opportunity to play in the Back Stars after he was re-hired as head coach, as he seeks to find a new balance in the squad. His work in the coming months may be to convince Blessing to hold on for a call up to Ghana’s national team or simply ignore the threats and leave the Kansas City forward to make his decision.
