Kwesi Nyantakyi[/caption] Beleaguered former GFA boss, Kwesi Nyantakyi has instructed his lawyers to “urgently” appeal against FIFA’s decision banning him for life in all football related activities. Mr. Nyantakyi said the decision by FIFA was “unfair, harsh and unwarranted”, hence his decision to get it quashed. “Even though I have already resigned from all my football positions, it is important I establish the facts with the sole aim of clearing my name.” He was banned by the world football governing body on Tuesday after investigations into a petition filed by ace investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas following the latter’s video documentary detailing inherent corruption in football administration in Ghana and other African countries. Several football administrators and referees have been suspended or banned as a result of the documentary. When you have extreme disease, you would have to look for a remedy. I would always look out for extreme remedy as I have always said, extreme remedies are the most appropriate for extreme diseases,” he said. But Mr. Nyantakyi in a statement said he is “shocked and deeply sad” by the turn of event and would therefore seek redress. Find Kwesi Nyantakyi’s full statement belwo I wish to express my shock and deep sadness after receiving the decision from the FIFA Ethics Adjudicatory Committee on Tuesday. My legal advisors are under my instructions to urgently appeal the decision as I think it was unfair, harsh and unwarranted. I will use all the legal channels available to seek redress and establish the facts I presented to the committee. Even though I have already resigned from all my football positions, it is important I establish the facts with the sole aim of clearing my name. At this moment I am unable to provide any further details as my lawyers are reviewing the facts for appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). I wish to express my sincere gratitude to the people of Ghana, Africa and indeed across the globe for the overwhelming support and outpouring of sympathy. By Isaac Essel |3news.com | Ghana]]>
