Asante Kotoko returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Real Tamale United, thanks to a second-half penalty from Ugandan striker Steven Dese Mukwala.

The win marked a welcome return to form for Kotoko, who had dropped points in their previous match against Great Olympics.

The hosts dominated proceedings throughout the game, creating numerous chances and testing the opposing goalkeeper on several occasions. Their efforts were finally rewarded in the 80th minute, when Mukwala converted a penalty following a foul on Yahaya Baba in the box.

The win sees Kotoko climb to sixth position in the league standings, just three points shy of leaders Samartex. Meanwhile, Real Tamale United slipped to second from bottom, suffering their fourth consecutive defeat.

In other matches, Bechem United defeated ten-man Nations 3-0, ending the latter’s unbeaten run. Dreams FC and Accra Lions played out a 1-1 draw, while Nsoatreman edged Aduana FC 1-0. Samartex solidified their position at the top of the table with a 3-0 triumph over Karela United.
