Asante Kotoko could end matchday 12 four points adrift of first place after dropping points for the third time in a row.

Tamale City and Kotoko drew 1-1 on Wednesday. Coach Seydou Zerbo’s men thought they had secured three points when they took the lead in the 84th minute thanks to an own goal, but they lost the lead two minutes later.

Tamale City snatched a point that could help them turn their season around and avoid relegation from the top flight.

The latest draw follows a 1-1 tie at home against Great Olympics and a 0-0 draw at Aduana Stars on January 1. Kotoko have thus squandered three chances to top the league, which they may come to regret.

Also on Wednesday, Medeama supporters had reason to rejoice after their side responded well to last Sunday’s thrashing at Dreams FC with a comfortable win over Nsoatreman. Medeama won 2-0 thanks to goals from Kwesi Donsu and new striker Jonathan Sowah.

Samartex FC won their third game of the season against Bechem United, thanks to an 83rd minute goal from Seidu Abubakar.

Berekum Chelsea snapped a three-game winless streak with a narrow victory over Karela United, while Legon Cities shared the spoils with Dreams FC.

Matchday 12 continues on Thursday with Hearts of Oak and Aduana Stars in action.
