Former Medeama SC midfielder Rashid Nortey has joined Ghana Premier League champions Asante Kotoko on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

The Porcupine Warriors confirmed via their official website on Wednesday.

“Midfielder Rashid Nortey has signed for Asante Kotoko as a free player.

“Rashid has penned two and a half-deal after running down his contract with Medeama SC.

“Rashid comes with enormous quality and experience and will only improve our team to help us achieve our targets this season.

“We welcome our new signing and wish him all the best,” the club announced.

The move will see the 27-year-old reunite with his former teammates Justice Blay and Richard Boadu, who now captains the team.

Rashid Nortey left Medeama as a free agent having run down his contract after joining the club in 2017.

His outstanding performance earned him a Black Stars call-up in 2020 when CK Akunnor was in charge as head coach.

The midfielder – who was named the best player for Medeama SC at the end of the 2020/21 season – is expected to help the Porcupines bounce back from their recent run of results.

Kotoko is yet to win a game in their last four matches in the ongoing Ghana Premier League.

They are currently third on the log behind Aduana Stars and Accra Lions.
