Young goalkeeper Ibrahim Danland saved a controversial second-half penalty as Asante Kotoko played out a goalless draw with Berekum Chelsea in the Ghana Premier League.

Danland stopped Stephen Amankonah from giving the home side the lead with less than 10 minutes left to extend Kotoko’s unbeaten run to six games.

Chelsea were awarded the penalty after a Kotoko player was adjudged to have handled the ball in the box, but television replays established that referee Jones Akubiem erred.

The penalty was by far the best chance of the game as both teams struggled on the poor pitch at Golden City Park in Berekum.

The draw means Kotoko will end matchday 13 on top of the table, while Berekum Chelsea remain in the bottom half.
