UEFA has taken action against Juventus and Chelsea for breaching Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.
Juventus have been expelled from this season’s Europa Conference League, and both clubs have been fined. The matter pertains to transactions that occurred between 2012 and 2019.
Juventus have been fined £17.14m, and Chelsea has been fined £8.57m. The Italian club will only need to pay half of their fine if they comply with financial regulations over the next three years. Meanwhile, Chelsea have already agreed to pay the settlement amount.
Chelsea’s fine relates to a seven-year period when Roman Abramovich was in control of the club. UEFA stated that Chelsea’s new ownership identified and reported potential incomplete financial reporting under the club’s previous ownership after the club’s sale in May 2022.

Chelsea responded, stating that they fully cooperated with UEFA’s investigations and entered into a settlement agreement. The Premier League club expressed gratitude for concluding the case through proactive disclosure of information and resolution of the reported matters.
Following Juventus’ expulsion from the Europa Conference League, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) must inform UEFA of the replacement club. Fiorentina is likely to be the replacement as they finished eighth in Serie A. Last year’s finalists, Fiorentina, were beaten by West Ham in the final.
