Black Stars striker Jordan Ayew was on target for the second consecutive week as his side Crystal Palace pipped Aston Villa 1-0 in the English Premier League on Saturday. Ayew scored in the 73rd minute of the game at Selhurst Park. The Ghanaian found the back of the net at Old Trafford last weekend in the Eagles’ 2-1 win over Manchester United.

There was controversy in the match, however, as referee Kevin Friend disallowed what many think was a clean equaliser. He had whistled against Jack Grealish for diving in the build-up to the disallowed goal. “I’m not sure any of us know why the referee has given the decision,” Aston Villa’s manager Dean Smith said after the game. “We’ve all looked at it back and nobody can see why he hasn’t given the goal.” The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) could not help and the Premier League said it was because “the whistle went before the ball went into the net”. The win takes Palace to fourth on the log. Source: 3news.com|Ghana]]>
