The former WBO Super Bantamweight champion Isaac “The Royal Storm” Dogboe, has kept his word to the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) by paying a pre-agreed percentage of his earnings from the bout against Joet Gonzalez to the organisation.

The local licensing body thus received a predetermined portion of earnings from the most recent fight of the current WBC number 1 title contender.

The 27-year-old also pledged to devote his time to fostering the growth of Ghana boxing.

Boxers licensed in Ghana are required by the GBA regulations to pay a negotiated percentage from each of their professional fights, a practice that is not exclusive to Ghana.

However, despite the present administration’s push for full compliance, some boxers have gone against the requirement.

Isaac Dogboe, who did not begin his career in Ghana, has shown obedience to the law.

“It is all about development and also giving the chance to the next generation. When we pay all these percentages and it will help develop the next generation then so be it,” Dogboe stated.

“This is because look, the world is big enough for all of us to have the piece of the cake to develop the next generation,” he noted.

President of GBA, Abraham Kotei Neequaye who was present at the conference promised to prohibit boxers who refuse to sign the agreement to give a portion of their bout earnings to the GBA.

He stressed that Dogboe is the only Ghanaian among the top boxers in the world and with his discipline, he will go far.

The Director General of the National Sports Authority, Professor Peter Twumasi, was also present at the media briefing and lauded the boxing fraternity for their exploits at the just ended commonwealth games, winning three medals; two silver and one bronze.

The WBO International belt that Dogboe won on July 23, is due to arrive in Ghana on Friday, August 19, by a private plane.
