Ghana forward Inaki Williams has thanked fans and teammates of Athletic Bilbao for their support and teamwork despite the team’s elimination from the Copa Del Rey on Tuesday.

Athletic Bilbao exited the competition after a 1-1 second-leg result which marched Osasuna into the final following a narrow win in the first leg.

Williams scored in the 33rd minute after he found himself unmarked at the end of a corner kick to beat goalkeeper Sergio Herrera.

However, Bilbao gave up when the match travelled to extra time with Pablo Ibanez punishing them in the 116th minute.

The result means Osasuna would wait for the winner between Barcelona and Real Madrid to know their opponents in the final of the Copa del Rey after a 2-1 aggregate victory.

Williams whose goal brought to an end a 24-game scoreless run took to his Twitter handle to express his delight despite the elimination.

“Never forget that we are living what one day we dream of. THANK YOU ALL FOR WHAT YOU MADE US LIVE,” he wrote on Twitter.

The 28-year-old will hope to maintain his scoring form when he is invited for the Black Stars. Since his nationality switch from Spain to Ghana in June 2022, Williams has yet to find the back of the net after eight appearances including three World Cup matches in Qatar.
