Ghana midfielder Mohammed Kudus believes that football’s essence lies in entertaining the fans and aims to contribute to that experience at his new club West Ham.

The 23-year-old midfielder joined the Premier League club from Ajax, signing a five-year contract on Sunday.

“I like to entertain the fans as I think that is what football is about, and my dribbling ability, strength and finishing also. I’m just here to do my best to help the team. The fans should expect some entertainment!” Kudus said following his unveiling.

In the same interview, Kudus reflected on his time at Ajax. He expressed his enjoyment during his three-year tenure, having moved to the Dutch club from Danish side Nordsjaelland in 2020. With 27 goals and two league titles to his credit, Kudus deemed the experience valuable in his development journey.

He underscored the importance of nurturing young talents and equipping them for the next stage in their careers. He considered his stint at Ajax a “perfect middle step” between Denmark and a future phase, especially with the opportunity to experience top-level football in Europe and the Champions League.

Acknowledging Ajax’s role in his growth, Kudus noted, “It’s more about performance than results, and I believe that’s the best way to develop. It’s not just about the result, it’s about developing as a player, and really, the style of play really fits how I want to play, with more focus on the technical and tactical part of the game, so it was a perfect learning experience over there.”
