Nana Yaw Amponsah has dispelled the widely held perception that he has a problem with Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku.

Amponsah contested the 2019 GFA Presidential Election in which Okraku beat the current Kotoko Chief Executive Officer and five other contestants to become the head of football in the country.

“People have this perception that when you go into a competition with someone then the followers presume or think you are enemies,” he told Accra-based Happy FM.

“After losing the elections, I congratulated him and moved on. I have no problem with him.

“I don’t have anything against him and will be surprised if he does.”

The perception has gained ground recently following GFA’s attempt to force Nana Yaw Amponsah out of his job at Asante Kotoko.

The local football governing body banned Phar Rangers for five years for misconduct and applied the same sanction on directors of the second-tier club.

Amponsah, who claimed to have quit Phar Rangers before accepting the Kotoko job, still holds a position at the club, according to the GFA who have formally notified the Board of Directors of Ghanaian giants to axe him.

Kotoko are yet to take a decision on the issue.
