Hearts of Oak have formally asked the Ghana Football Association to change the date of their Ghana Premier League match against Legon Cities which comes before the Asante Kotoko clash.

The Phobians believe the current schedule is not favorable and want it changed.

Hearts are scheduled to play Legon Cities in Accra on Thursday, June 24, which will be a day after Asante Kotoko host Karela United in Obuasi.

And with the Super Clash planned to take place on Sunday, June 27, Hearts feel Kotoko will have the upper hand of having had more rest ahead of the match.

“With Kotoko playing on Wednesday afternoon, they will have 72-hour rest period ahead of our clash whilst we have 42-hour rest period if we should play on Thursday.

“This would generate unnecessary reaction from our supporters and this has the tendencies of taking the shine away from the match,” the club said in a statement.

Hearts and Kotoko are involved in the tightest league race in recent years. With five matches to end the campaign, the two big clubs are level on points, but the Phobians sit above Kotoko in the first position because of their superior goal difference.

Hence, next week Sunday’s meeting at the Accra Sports Stadium is seen as the title decider.
