Hearts of Oak midfielder Gladson Awako has been named captain of the Black Galaxies ahead of their African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers.
Awako, FIFA U-20 World Cup winner in 2009, will be assisted by Medeama defender Vincent Atingah and Asante Kotoko’s impressive full-back Ibrahim Imoro.
“Earlier today we appointed Gladson Awako as Captain and he will be assisted by Vincent Atingah and Imoro Ibrahim Coach Walker said in an interview with GFA Communications.
“I urge all players to give them the necessary support to help us achieve success in our upcoming qualifiers.”
The Black Galaxies will face Benin in the first round of the 2022 CHAN qualifiers. The first leg will take place on July 24 at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium, with the return leg scheduled for July 30.
The winner will face Nigeria in the second round.
Ghana are looking to return to the Championship after missing the last three editions. Black Galaxies finished second twice in the first three editions.
