Hearts of Oak were held to a goalless draw at the Hohoe Sports Stadium against Heart of Lions in their outstanding match in the Ghana Premier League.

The Phobians who were expected to lock horns with the Ghana Premier League returnees on Sunday, October 15, 2023, had to wait until Friday afternoon due to the Akosombo Dam spillage which hugely affected people in the Volta region including Heart of Lions who initially honoured their home matches at the Sogakope Arena.

Having last met in 2015 in which Hearts of Oak secured a big win by thumping their opponents 4-0, Koopman’s men were determined to stun their opponents but were not clinical enough.

The Dutch trainer tried to get a win with intensified efforts after the break introducing Cameroonian import Albert Eonde who replaced Kashala Ramos. Linda Mtange and Evans Adomako were also given the opportunity to try and make things happen as they came on for Martin Karikari and Enock Asubonteng respectively.

However, the efforts of Hearts of Oak were still not enough as they shared the spoils.
With 11 points, the Phobians are now ninth on the table while Heart of Lions lie bottom of the table with seven points and remain the only team without a win in the ongoing Ghana Premier League campaign.

While Heart of Lions continue to seek their first win as they visit Abrankese to face Nations FC, Hearts of Oak will host Legon Cities at the Accra Sports Stadium on November 12.
