Hearts of Oak held in Bibiani as Great Olympics bounce back

Hearts of Oak salvaged a crucial point at Duns Park on Saturday in stoppage time in an exciting encounter against Bibiani Goldstars in the seventh round of matches in the Ghana Premier League.

The Phobians who are still chasing their first win after four games were coming from the back of a goalless draw against FC Samartex last weekend with the aim of bouncing back to victory but their opponents proved too tough to break.

After a scoreless half, both teams were eager to break the deadlock but had to wait until the 87th minute to see the first goal of the game when Appiah McCarthy scored a stunning free-kick to give the Miners the lead.

However, Hearts of Oak were resilient enough to get back into the game thanks to a late goal by Hamza Issah in injury time to tie the game 1-1.

In the second match of the day, Great Olympics after losing 3-1 to Aduana Stars bounced back with a slim win over Nations FC.

The Oly Dade boys got the only goal through Solomon Twene who converted a spot kick in the 89th minute.

The win puts Great Olympics back on top of the table with 12 points after seven games.

The rest of the seventh round of matches will continue on Sunday, October 29, 2023, with Kotoko hosting Bechem United at the Baba Yara stadium among other exciting games.
