The upcoming clash between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday is crucial for Hearts of Oak’s chances of winning the league, according to their coach Slavko Matic.

The team’s recent form has not been great, with just one win in their last five games leading to a drop to sixth place in the league standings.

Despite this, Matic remains optimistic and sees the match against Kotoko as a potential turning point in the team’s fortunes.

He believes that if the referees perform well on Sunday, Hearts of Oak can emerge victorious and put themselves in a strong position to challenge for the championship.

“The next game will show. The next game will show definitely whether we are ready to be champions or not because we have more games. We can win against Asante Kotoko but like these referees, we have a big problem.

“You know when it’s a big game like Hearts of Oak-Asante Kotoko, everything is possible. We must believe we have enough time for recovery,” he said.

Hearts are eight points behind league leaders Aduana Stars and are three points away from second-placed Asante Kotoko.
