‘Hearts of Oak 3-0 Benin’ – Club hail players for their contributions to Black Galaxies’ victory

Hearts of Oak have praised their players for their significant contributions to the Black Galaxies’ victory over Benin on Sunday.

Ghana won the first leg of the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifying tie 3-0 on Sunday in Cape Coast, with all three goals coming from Hearts of Oak players.

Galaxies took the lead in the 25th minute thanks to a penalty converted by Hearts of Oak striker Daniel Afriyie Barnieh.

Defender Mohammed Alhassan doubled the lead five minutes into the second half with a great finish inside the box, before midfielder Gladson Awako sealed the win with a brilliant curler.

The Black Galaxies starting lineup included five Hearts of Oak players. Suraj Seidu impressed in midfield, as did Denis Korsah at left-back.

“You can’t get it wrong with your “Hearts” choice,” the club said on Twitter.

The Black Galaxies will enter the return leg confident of reaching the final round of Western Zone B qualifiers, thanks to their impressive victory.

The second leg is scheduled for Saturday, July 30 in Porto-Novo, with the winner of the tie facing Nigeria

Ghana are looking to return to the Championship after missing the last three editions. Black Galaxies finished second twice in the first three editions.
