After eight years of playing in the Division One League Kpando Heart of Lions made a return to the Ghana Premier League with six games to spare in the second-tier championship

The Lions secured a place in next season’s Ghana Premier League after emerging champions in the Division One League Zone Three following defeats recorded by both second and third-placed teams Vision FC and Koforidua Semper Fi.

Vision FC lost 2-0 at home to Attram de Visser and still have 40 points which makes it mathematically impossible to catch up with Hearts of Lions 56 points at the top even if they win their remaining five matches.

With 39 points Koforidua Semper Fi had the chance to delay Heart of Lions with a win on Sunday but rather succumbed to the same scoreline recorded by Vision FC as Na God FC beat them to keep them in third place.

The Kpando based-side return to the top flight after getting relegated in the 2014/2015 season when they finished 14th in the then 16-club competition. Intriguingly, Ashgold who emerged champions at the end of that season were relegated to Division Two last season following their match manipulation scandal with Inter Allies.

Meanwhile, Accra Lions are yet to honour their matchday 25 fixture on Monday against Golden Kick.
