Defending champions Hearts of Oak were left still looking for their first win of the new Ghana Premier League season following a draw against WAFA on Friday.

The Phobians were held 1-1 by WAFA in Sogakope five days after they drew goalless with Legon Cities on the opening weekend.

Hearts’ last visit to Sogakope saw them lift the league trophy for the first time in 12 years but on Friday they dropped two points after surrendering a first-half lead.

Kofi Kordzi had Hearts dreaming of their first win when he scored in the 44th minute. The striker left unmarked inside the box beat goalkeeper with a low finish.

Before that, Hearts captain Fatawu Mohammed spurned the game’s brightest chance.

WAFA came back strongly in the second half and made their dominance count as they equalised through Sampon Agyapong who scored from close range.

The result extends Hearts of Oak’s winless start to their title defence while WAFA, who finished third last season, have one point after two games.
