The AG secured an interim injunction on the GFA on Tuesday[/caption] Government has constituted a five-member committee to oversee the running of football in the country. The interim management committee (IMC) will be chaired by the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee of the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations, Dr Kofi Amoah. Members will be Cudjoe Fianoo, who will also serve as Secretary to the committee, former footballers Abedi Pele and Reverend Osei Kofi and lawyer and former sports journalist Eva Okyere. Peace FM’s sports anchor Daniel Kweku Yeboah will serve as the spokesperson of the committee. In a release issued by Minister of Information Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid on Wednesday, the committee will lead government’s negotiations with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) on the way forward for Ghana football. The announcement of the IMC comes a day after the Attorney General secured a 10-day injunction on officials and members of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) from holding themselves as such. READ: Ghana Football Association banned! All these are fallouts from the exposé by ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, who has since written to the Minister of Justice to have former President of the GFA Kwesi Nyantakyi investigated. In the exposé, Mr Nyantakyi and some key officials of the erstwhile GFA engaged in stark graft deals, some of which involved the name of President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and other government functionaries. Mr Nyantakyi was subsequently banned by FIFA while he willingly resigned his positions at the FA, WAFU, CAF and FIFA. Government says it has the intention to “seek a more permanent injunction” on the GFA. “Government calls on the Ghanaian people to exercise restraint as it takes steps to sanitise the situation and restore normalcy to football in Ghana.” By Emmanuel Kwame Amoh|3news.com|Ghana    ]]>
