In 2013, Mr Ofori in a radio interview stated he won’t allow his son join Hearts of Oak because players who hail from the Bono region court back luck when they play for the Accra-based giants.
The comment angered Hearts of Oak and their supporters, with goalkeeper signing the club’s fierce rivals Asante Kotoko.
After failing to shine at Kotoko, Ofori Antwi landed at Medeama where he has been excellent and is now desperate to part ways with the Tarkwa-based club and sign for recently crowned Ghana Premier League champions.
However, he understands his father’s unpleasant comment is still fresh in the minds of Phobia fraternity.
When he appeared on Onua TV’s Agro Fie early this week, he apologised on behalf of his father. How ever, the man himself has come out to ask Hearts of Oak fans to forgive him.
He revealed being drunk when he granted the interview and apologised for offending the club.
“I had taken alcohol and I am sorry for making those comments about Hearts of Oak and I regret making them and I ask for their forgiveness,” said Antwi’s father in an interview with Onua Sports.
“I apologise for saying that, and now wholeheartedly bless my child for Hearts.”
Sources close to Hearts of Oak say the club have contacted Medeama over the availability of the goalkeeper.
Having secured qualification for next season’s Caf Champions League, by virtue of winning league, the Phobians are working on bolstering their squad, and believe Ofori Antwi can be a great addition.
Samuel Boadu would be happy to reunite with Ofori Antwi having worked with him at Medeama.
