The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the postponement of next month’s FIFA World Cup African qualifiers.

CAF said their decision is due to the challenges caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, and the need to ensure optimal playing conditions for all participating teams.

The matches have been moved to September.

This means Ghana’s clash with Ethiopia and South Africa scheduled for June 4 and June 12 respectively have been postponed.

Black Stars are looking at a return to the global showpiece after missing out on the 2018 gathering in Russia.

They have been drawn against South Africa, Zimbabwe and Ethiopia in Group G for the second round of qualifiers.

The third round will see the 10 group winners drawn into five home-and-away ties. The winners of each tie will advance to the tournament in Qatar.

The Black Stars have been tasked to reach the semi-finals.
