Ghana coach Chris Hughton expressed his determination to avoid two consecutive international friendly losses as his team prepares to face the United States on Tuesday.
Hughton’s side suffered a 2-0 defeat to Mexico on Saturday, falling short of expectations by failing to register a single shot on target. This loss was Hughton’s first since his appointment as Ghana’s coach eight months ago, intensifying the pressure to deliver a positive result against the United States.
Hughton emphasised the importance of a strong response from his team in the upcoming match, stating, “It is exactly the same message for the players; what we don’t want is to leave this international camp with two poor results. The result of that is always looking for a reaction from the team in the second game [against the USA].”
He further elaborated on the need for a learning process, saying, “If you are able to get the right reaction, which I am quite sure that we will from the team, then it gives you a better possibility of putting in a performance that can get something out of the game in the second game [against the USA]. So what we have to do is to learn from the things you didn’t do so well in the first game [against Mexico].”
The Black Stars have already arrived in Nashville, Tennessee, where the match against the USA will take place. They are eager to put on a strong performance to secure a positive result after their previous defeat.
