Milovan Rajevac has backed striker Jordan Ayew to regain his composure in front of goal and make a positive impact when Ghana host Zimbabwe on Saturday.

Ayew is expected to start the must-win World Cup qualifier, although goal scoring has been a problem for the striker at both club and country.

Jordan has gone more than 30 games without scoring at Crystal Palace with manager Patrick Vieira saying the attacker lacks confidence and self-belief.

His last goal for the Black Stars came in March, a penalty against Sao Tome and Principe in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

“This is something very common for goal scorers. Sometimes they have some crises and find it difficult to score goals but we are here to support our player and it is important for him to have our support and to understand this is a team game,” Rajevac told media ahead of the Zimbabwe match.

He added, “So, it is important to score goals and sometimes you assist, and we have few other strikers in the team and we believe we can make this work and I hope that his goal drought will probably end tomorrow.”

Jordan has scored 17 goals in 65 appearances since his Black Stars debut in 2010 during Milovan Rajevac’s first stint.
