Asante Kotoko legend Ernest Papa Arko has reportedly passed away.

Papa Arko, who led the Porcupine Warriors to their last African triumph in 1983, died in the early hours of Sunday, November 26, after a brief illness.

Known as ‘Soccer Bob Marley,’ the legendary midfielder played a key role in Asante Kotoko’s history. He lifted the trophy in the 1983 final of the CAF Champions League against Al Ahly.

Papa Arko, a former captain and revered figure, also represented the Black Stars, participating in two Cup of Nations tournaments.

His death comes in the wake of other losses for Kotoko, including Joe Debrah in October and former winger Robert Eshun in London.
