Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Nettey has reportedly signed a contract with a club in Iraq after parting ways with Hearts of Oak recently.

According to reports, Nettey’s contract with the Phobians expired on December 31 2021, and he has joined Iraqi second-tier side Duhok SC as a free agent.

Nettey, who joined Hearts in 2020, helped the club end their 12-year trophy drought by winning the league and FA Cup double last season.

Meanwhile, Nettey is the second player to depart Hearts in the last few days after Congolese left-back Raddy Ovouka’s transfer to Mexico.

“Accra Hearts of Oak has agreed with American based club, New Mexico United to transfer defender, Raddy Ovouka to them on a 1-year loan deal,” the club said.

“The Congolese defender still remains a player of Hearts of Oak until New Mexico exercises the right to buy him permanently. We wish him well with his new club.”

Hearts have failed to impress this season with 14 points in nine games as they sit eight places behind the top spot in the league.

They bowed out of Africa following a humiliating loss in Alegria.
