Ghana forward Jordan Ayew expressed gratitude towards Roy Hodgson, crediting him for profoundly impacting both his playing career and personal growth after the English manager stepped down as Crystal Palace coach.

Ayew scored in Palace’s 1-1 draw against Everton on Monday night after Hodgson had earlier in the day announced his departure from the club.

Ayew’s goal was stunning, and he spoke to the media at Goodison Park. Ayew reminisced fondly about his former coach.

“When we speak about Roy I get goosebumps because he’s been so good to me – a top manager and a top man,” Ayew remarked emotionally.

The striker explained that Hodgson helped guide him tremendously on and off the pitch, facilitating major development in Ayew’s game and maturity.

“He assisted me greatly in improving as both a football player and a person. I can’t thank him enough,” Ayew added.

This season, Ayew started 21 of 22 Premier League matches under Hodgson’s leadership. He recorded two goals and five assists as a regular fixture in Hodgson’s squad.

Ayew’s earnest words highlighted mutual admiration and the profound mentorship the outgoing manager provided.

With Hodgson departing, Crystal Palace have appointed Austrian coach Oliver Glasner as their new manager.

Palace likely seek to spark improved performances from their youthful squad, steering clear of relegation. Glasner arrives having revitalized struggling teams in the past utilizing an attacking style.

As Glasner spectated Palace’s recent draw, Ayew may have already impressed him by scoring. A new rapport could now form between the Ghanaian striker and his incoming manager
