The Uganda Football Association (UFA) has announced that the national team, the Cranes, will play a friendly match against Ghana’s Black Stars on March 26th, despite the latter’s current lack of a coach.

The match will take place at the Stade Grande Marrakech in Marrakech, Morocco.

According to the UFA, the friendly encounter is part of Uganda’s preparations for their upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The Cranes will also face Comoros.

However, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has yet to officially confirm the match, and it remains uncertain how the team will be prepared without a coach.

The GFA has been searching for a new coach since dismissing Chris Hughton following a disappointing Africa Cup of Nations campaign, but no successor has been named thus far.

The absence of a coach has sparked speculation regarding player selection and preparation for the match. While some expect a new coach to be appointed shortly, others believe that the Black Galaxies, led by former Black Stars assistant coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, might be entrusted with the task.

Irrespective of who takes charge, the friendly clash versus Uganda represents a vital opportunity for Ghana to gauge their strength and readiness ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifiers against Mali and Central African Republic in June.

With the match 16 days away, the GFA faces a race against time to get the team in order. Will they manage to secure a new coach in time, or will they rely on homegrown talent to carry the day? Only time will reveal the answer.
