Bayern Munich’s aspirations for another Bundesliga title have been dealt a significant blow as manager Thomas Tuchel conceded defeat in the title race following their 2-0 home loss to Borussia Dortmund.

The defeat, marked by goals from Karim Adeyemi and Julian Ryerson, leaves Bayern trailing league leaders Bayer Leverkusen by 13 points with only seven games remaining in the season.

In a post-match interview, Tuchel acknowledged the insurmountable gap, stating, “Obviously, yes. After today’s game there is no more need to count points.” He congratulated Bayer Leverkusen on their remarkable season thus far.

Leverkusen, led by manager Xabi Alonso, who confirmed his stay at the club for the next season, now stand on the brink of clinching their first league title.

With just three wins needed from their remaining fixtures, Leverkusen aim to halt Bayern’s streak of 11 consecutive Bundesliga titles.

Meanwhile, Dortmund’s victory, their first at Bayern in a decade, bolsters their quest for a top-four finish, placing them three points clear of fifth-placed RB Leipzig.

The significant points gap highlights Leverkusen’s imminent title triumph and Bayern’s focus shifting towards the Champions League, where they face Arsenal in the quarter-finals. With both teams eager to claim continental glory, Bayern aim to redeem themselves after conceding the Bundesliga title race for the first time in 11 seasons.
