Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has made a welcome return to full first-team training after a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a muscle injury sustained in October 2023.

The 30-year-old’s recovery opens the possibility of him featuring in Arsenal’s upcoming Premier League game against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.

Partey’s injury ruled him out for an extended period, causing him to miss Ghana’s campaign in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where the Black Stars exited at the group stage without securing a single win.

In an official statement, Arsenal confirmed Partey’s return to first-team training, indicating the positive progress in his recovery. The statement read, “Thomas Partey has returned to first-team training ahead of our trip to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday. Thomas had been working on recovering from an ongoing muscle issue that had seen him out of action since early October.”

While facing tough competition in Arsenal’s midfield, with the likes of Declan Rice and Jorginho, Partey’s return is anticipated to bolster the team’s options. The Black Stars midfielder, who has only made five appearances for the Gunners this season, will be eager to secure a spot in the starting lineup and contribute to Arsenal’s campaign in the Premier League.

In addition to his football comeback, Partey recently celebrated becoming a father, welcoming an adorable baby girl with his girlfriend, Janine Mackson.

As he eyes a strong return to the pitch, Partey aims to play a pivotal role for Arsenal, reminiscent of his significant contributions in the previous season’s pursuit of the Premier League title who was lost to Manchester City in the latter stage of the competition.
