Nottingham Forest have submitted a formal request to the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) to release into the public domain audio recordings between officials during Sunday’s match against Everton at Goodison Park.

Nottingham Forest after the loss to Everton were livid about the performance of referee Antony Taylor and Video Assistant Referee (VAR) official Stuart Attwell.

After the game, Nottingham Forest questioned the role of Stuart Attwell, who they alleged to be a fan of relegation rivals Luton. They then issued an unprecedented statement condemning Attwell’s selection after having three penalty appeals turned down.

In a post on X, the Foorested demanded the PGMOL to release audio recordings from Sunday’s game.

“Nottingham Forest has today submitted a formal request to the PGMOL to release into the public domain audio recordings between officials during yesterday’s match against Everton at Goodison Park,” the club stated.

“The club has requested this be shared for three key match incidents – Ashley
Young’s challenge on Giovanni Reyna (24′), Ashley Young’s handball (44′) and Ashley Young’s challenge on Callum Hudson-Odoi (56′).

“We firmly advocate for the broader football community and supporters to have access to the audio and transcript for full transparency, ensuring the integrity of our sport is upheld.”

The VAR has come under scrutiny in the Premier League since its inception and this incident further fuels the controversy surrounding the technology.

Nottingham Forest will however hope they are able to escape relegation as they sit just a point above the drop zone.
