Hearts of Oak coach Aboubakar Ouattara has taken responsibility for the team’s defeat to FC Samartex on Saturday in the Ghana Premier League marking his first defeat since assuming the role.

In a captivating matchday 23 fixture, the league leaders stunned the Phobians, who had been displaying impressive form under the Ivorian tactician.

Evans Osei Wusu’s brace ensured that the Timber Giants claimed all three points, solidifying their position at the top of the league standings.

Despite Hearts of Oak’s efforts to alter the outcome, with Hamza Issah halving the deficit upon his return from injury, it wasn’t enough to overturn the result.

Reacting to his team’s defeat, Ouattara admitted to making decisions that didn’t produce the desired outcome, taking full responsibility for the loss.

“I think I made a bad choice and it affected the team, it’s my fault. Samartex is a good side, and I understand why they are on top of the league standings. I congratulate them,” he said.

However, Ouattara expressed confidence in his ability to make the necessary corrections and lead the team to bounce back stronger.

“So many things. First of all, I will try to correct myself before I talk to the players,” he added.

With Hearts of Oak currently ninth on the Ghana Premier League table with 32 points from 23 matches, they are determined to gather crucial points in their remaining 11 games to finish the season positively. Their next challenge will be a home match against Bibiani Gold Stars.

Meanwhile, Samartex, leading the league table, has its sights set on the championship title after making its debut just last season.
