Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has expressed his thoughts on potential new Reds manager Arne Slot, currently the head coach of Feyenoord.

The Merseyside team is reportedly in discussions with Slot as they look for a successor to current manager Jurgen Klopp, who plans to step down at the end of the season.

Van Dijk shared his views on Slot during an interview with Viaplay after Liverpool’s match against Everton on Wednesday: “I find it hard to answer of course, but I think Arne Slot is perhaps one of the better Dutch coaches at this moment.”

He said of his fellow Dutchman: “I think the way of playing and the philosophy he has, that he could be a Liverpool coach.

“Only I think from what I read and hear is that it’s still far from being completed. We shall see.”

Under Slot’s guidance, Feyenoord secured the 2022-23 Eredivisie championship and reached the Dutch Cup final. They currently rank second in the league standings, trailing leaders PSV by just nine points with only four matches remaining.
