George Kennedy, an Asante Kotoko legend, believes that Dr. Prosper Ogum should continue as the club’s head coach despite the team’s recent struggles.

However, he acknowledges that a quick resolution is needed to address the chaotic run of form.

Kennedy understands the frustration of the supporters, who are demanding Ogum’s dismissal due to the team’s difficult problems, as evidenced by the recent 1-0 home loss to Nations FC.

“This situation is unprecedented for Kotoko. But as we say, ‘Kum apem aa apem beba’ (a popular Ghanaian saying meaning ‘even the strong will fall’), Kotoko is currently down,” Kennedy told 3Sports. “The situation is undesirable, and we don’t want to be in it, but it has happened to us.”

“We have to start tackling the challenge, and I think maybe Kotoko can bounce back to its normal form. We have started speaking to the players one-on-one, and at the same time, we are talking to the technical team as well. We want Kotoko to bounce back, so we will do everything necessary to make that happen,” Kennedy added.

Kotoko have lost their last four Ghana Premier League games and are currently 10 points behind league leaders Samartex. They are also trailing their rivals, Hearts of Oak, in the league standings.

The Porcupine Warriors may have to wait until the next season to challenge for the Premier League title, which was won by the same manager, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, in the 2021/2022 season.

Kotoko’s next Premier League match is against Bechem United on April 6, 2024.
