Former Kotoko defender Abdul Karim Zito has pleaded with fans of the club to exercise patience with coach Prosper Ogum, despite calls for his removal due to recent underwhelming results.

Kotoko are currently enduring a disappointing run of poor results losing 5 out of 6 matches played at the beginning of the second in the Ghana Premier League.

They have particularly struggled to secure victories in their home matches, which has led to dissatisfaction among the club’s supporters.

The latest setback was experienced on Sunday when the Porcupine Warriors lost at the Baba Yara Stadium to regional rivals Nations FC.

Reacting to the intensified calls from some fans to dismiss the coach, Karim Zito, now coach of Dreams FC emphasised the importance of exercising patience.

”The IMC expressed their intentions very clearly before the start of the season that they are rebuilding,” he told Akoma FM.

“Although the team is currently rebuilding, the fans, regrettably, are goal-oriented, however, I’ll beg the supporters to be patient with the coach, after all, this is the same coach who dropped three or four games at the start of the season and later bounce back to a winning streak, and that’s football for you.”

Karim emphasised the need for stability in football and advised against making hasty decisions by sacking Coach Ogum.

”The supporters should have patience with the coach because, at this point, all he needs is their trust, otherwise, things won’t work out. It appears that the coach needs to possess mental toughness in order to maintain focus and accomplish his objectives with Kotoko.”

Kotoko currently occupy the ninth position on the league table with 32 points. They will aim to bounce back with a positive result when the play Bechem United at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park in their next league game.
