An Italian court has ruled that Juventus must pay Cristiano Ronaldo £8.3m in owed wages, following a dispute over deferred payments during the Covid-affected 2020-21 season.

During his three-season tenure with Juventus from 2018 to 2021, Ronaldo played a pivotal role in securing two Serie A titles for the club, amassing an impressive record of 101 goals in 134 appearances.

Subsequently, he embarked on a second stint with Manchester United before joining Saudi club Al-Nassr after 16 months.

At Al-Nassr, Ronaldo has continued his prolific scoring, notching 50 goals and providing 14 assists in 56 appearances.

His enduring success on the pitch has been paralleled by his off-field earnings, with Forbes ranking him as the world’s highest-paid sportsman in 2023, boasting earnings of £109m.

The ruling highlights the legal resolution of a financial dispute between Ronaldo and Juventus, shedding light on the complexities of player contracts and financial arrangements within the footballing landscape.
