Black Stars winger Joseph Paintsil was on target for LA Galaxy as they emerged victorious against Vancouver Whitecaps with a 3-1 victory.

In a thrilling encounter at the BC Place Stadium on Sunday, both sides saw their efforts to strike first blood repelled as they maintained their formidable defensive positions.

However, the away side intensified their efforts as the deadlock was broken in the 56th minute when Dejan Joveljic scored the opening goal for LA Galaxy.

Brian White levelled the game for Vancouver Whitecaps in the 77th minute before Paintsil quickly restored LA Galaxy’s advantage within only three minutes by capitalising on a precise pass from Riqui Puig.

Paintsil went from scorer to provider as he assisted Diego Fagundez’s successful strike in the 82nd minute, to see LA Galaxy secure all three points.

The win has provided a huge relief as LA Galaxy bounced from a defeat from their previous defeat against LA FC.

The winger’s notable performance has seen his goal contribution tally rise to three goals and three assists in eight MLS matches.

Since joining the slide from KRC Genk a few months ago, the 26-year-old has proved to be an essential addition serving as a scoring asset while defying adaptation problems in the new environment.

The victory has propelled LA Galaxy to the summit of the Major League Soccer table in the Western Conference, amassing 15 points from eight games.

Their upcoming fixture will see them play host to San Jose Earthquakes on April 22, 2024, with their sights set on retaining their position atop the standings.

With Paintsil’s impressive form, he will be hoping to continue right and replicate that in Ghana’s crucial upcoming games against Mali and the Central African Republic in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers
