Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has expresed his excitement following his team’s performance which led to their 3-2 win over PSG in their UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash.

In a thrilling encounter on Wednesday night in the first leg clash, Barcelona stunned the Ligue champions at the Parc des Princes with a fascinating display.

A brace from Raphinha and a late header from Andreas Christensen ensured that the Catalans gained the advantage in the final 10 minutes of the game over PSG who seemed to have found their rhythm after going behind in the first half.

Speaking about the team’s overall performance in such a crucial Champions League away game, Xavi lauded Barcelona’s efforts and believes their spirited fight is one to be proud of for a very long time.

“It’s a big win and of course, playing away in the Champions League but missing one game in Barcelona. Of course, we did really well in defence, in attack, especially in defense, everyboy worked for the team. Tactically we did really well, the wingers helped us, he said in a post-match interview

Xavi also commended Barca’s backline for their ability to handle Mbappe’s attacking threat and believes his team is on course to reach their first Champions League semi-finals in five years.

“We defended Kylian Mbappé so well with Kounde and Ronald Araujo and we created many chances, so I’m very happy and proud of the team”, he added.

Barca will host PSG at the Olympic Stadium on Tuesday, 16th April in hopes of qualifying to the next round. However, there is still lot to play for and the Parisians cannot be underrated moving into the second leg in Spain.
