Athletic Bilbao attacker Inaki Williams is gearing up for what he describes as a dream opportunity as his team prepares to face off against RCD Mallorca in the Copa del Rey final.

The much-anticipated game will take place on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the Estadio de La Cartuja at 20:00 GMT.

Scheduled for Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the Estadio de La Cartuja, the final promises an intense battle between the two sides.

Expressing his determination, Williams emphasised the significance of winning the Copa del Rey, highlighting its potential to etch a place in the club’s history. Athletic Bilbao has its eyes set on claiming the prestigious trophy for the first time since 1984.

Williams, speaking to Mundo Deportivo, articulated his sentiments, saying, “I always say, my parents have done so much for us. Everything we do is to give back to them for everything they have done for us. Hopefully we can bring that victory, not only to them but to all the generations of Athleticzales who have not seen an Athletic champion.

“Hopefully we can enjoy a great final.

“It’s a dream we’ve had since childhood. We’ve grown up playing together, we’re still playing together and now we have the chance to play the first cup final together. Things didn’t go the way we all wanted last year. Once again we can enjoy a final. We don’t want to imagine, we want to do it.”

Reflecting on past disappointments, particularly in the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons they fell short in the final stages losing to Real Sociedad and Barcelona respectively.

Williams and his teammates are therefore determined to rewrite history this time by overcoming RCD Mallorca and ending the 40-year-old drought.

With Williams showcasing fine form this season, having already netted 11 goals and provided five assists in 31 appearances across all competitions, the 29-year-old is poised to play a crucial role in Bilbao’s quest for victory. His contributions in the Copa del Rey, including two goals and two assists, further underline his importance to the team’s aspirations.
