Former Ghanaian footballer Charles Taylor has made bold statements about Manchester City and Norway striker Erling Haaland, suggesting that the prolific forward wouldn’t have earned a spot in the first team of Ghanaian club Hearts of Oak.

Taylor, who played for Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, said despite Haaland’s impressive record of 31 goals in 39 games across all competitions this season, the Norwegian wouldn’t secure a starting position for the Phobians.

“Haaland wouldn’t even start for Hearts of Oak if he was in Ghana. He is going to use the bench. Tell him that I said he will not start for Hearts of Oak if he travels to Ghana,” Taylor asserted on Angel TV.

Known for his vocal and controversial opinions, Taylor believes despite Haalands ability to bury chances, he doesn’t posses all the necessary qualities to break into the team.

Charles played a significant role in the renowned “64 Battalion, which won consecutive Ghanaian league titles and the African Champions League in 2000.”

Meanwhile, Haaland has already scored 20 goals in the ongoing season in the Premier League and is hoping to win the top scorers award for a second consecutive time despite only joining the Cityzens only last season. His goals has propelled Manchester City to the summit of the table with six matches to end the season.

Hearts of Oak on the other hand are ninth on the Ghana Premier League table and have secured only a win in their last four games as they aim to climb up the table and finish in a respectable position.
