Dreams FC will take on Zamalek SC in the semifinal of the CAF Confederation Cup, after edging Stade Malien 3-2 on aggregate in a resilient quarter-final performance.
Reaching the last four of the CAF Confederation Cup in its debut appearance in Africa means Dreams FC have achieved a great feat, yet a lot is to be played for with a tough test ahead of them in the semifinal of the competition.
Dreams FC initially booked a slot in the CAF Confederation Cup by winning the FA Cup in Ghana, and a lot has changed since that time as they now have surpassed the expectations set for them by many.
Dreams FC are now the first Ghanaian side since Hearts and Kotoko (finalists in 2004) to reach this stage of the competition, and the team which secured its first-ever qualification to the Ghana Premier League in 2015 has surely seen themselves improve massively over the last decade.
Sylvester Simba’s 70th-minute strike cancelled out York Diaby’s opener and secured their ticket to the last four for the Ghanaian side in their second-leg quarter-final with Stade Malien. However, the Ghanaian side did not attain this feat by chance.

A tactical strategy and immense level of commitment from the team led to their current position. By topping Group B in the group stages of the competition, Dreams FC entrenched themselves as one of the sides to keep close tabs on, and beating Stade Malien in the quarter-final now see Karim Zito’s side as one of the contenders in the competition.
Going all the way for glory however, remains the biggest question for many.
Regarded as one of the biggest clubs in Africa, Zamalek on the other hand booked a place to the semi-finals of with a convincing 3-2 win over Egyptian counterparts Future FC.

With a whopping 79 trophies to their name, Zamalek look the favorites ahead of this encounter, as they have five CAF Champions League Cup wins and a 2018/2019 Confederations Cup title in the bag.
Dreams on may not be stacked as much in their trophy cabinet, yet they stand a chance as the old giant is not as great as it once was.
The first-leg encounter will take place on 28th April, with the second leg expected to be played out at the Helmy Zamora Stadium in Egypt.
