Dreams FC are two steps away from earning a whopping $2 million in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Still Believe boys beat Stade Malien 3-2 on aggregate on Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi to book their first-ever semi-final appearance in the competition. For this achievement, the Ghanaian side is guaranteed an accumulated cash prize of $750,000.
Karim Zito’s men have a date with Zamalek in late April. If they beat the Egyptian giants, who won the competition five years ago, their prize money will increase to $1 million. If they go one step further to make history and win the trophy, they will earn $2 million.
Dreams say they believe. The last Ghanaian club to win it all is Hearts of Oak who defeated arch-rivals Asante Kotoko in an all-Ghana final in 2004.
For the Ghana FA Cup holders who were initially touted as underdogs in the competition, they are hopeful of clinching the ultimate as emphasised by coach Karim Zito after they triumphed over Stade Malien.

“We will not let the qualification put us down, we are going to prepare,” Zito affirmed in the wake of the win. “I think people will take us seriously now, but we are going for the ultimate.”
$2 million will undoubtedly be a huge achievement for a club which only burst onto the top flight scene nine years ago.
