Ghana encountered significant disciplinary problems during their international friendly matches in March, receiving three red cards across two games against Nigeria and Uganda held in Marrakech.
The Black Stars suffered a 2-1 defeat to Nigeria last Friday, followed by a 2-2 draw with Uganda on Tuesday.
Despite briefly leading the latter encounter 2-1 due to goals from Jerome Opoku and Jordan Ayew, the team ultimately conceded a disappointing result.
The most pressing concern arising from these fixtures is the high number of dismissals. During the initial clash versus Nigeria, defender Jerome Opoku received a contentious red card, while both Mohammed Salisu and Alidu Seidu were dismissed in the subsequent meeting with Uganda. Reports indicate that the pair was sanctioned for dissent towards the female referee overseeing the contest.
Returning manager Otto Addo will undoubtedly examine the outcomes of these encounters; however, his primary focus may well shift toward addressing the indiscretions displayed by certain members of the squad.
With pivotal contests against Mali and Central African Republic looming large in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, maintaining composure and exercising discipline will prove vital for Ghana’s aspirations moving forward.
