The 13th edition of the African Games saw an exhilarating pair of women’s semi-final matches, with hosts Ghana and longstanding rivals Nigeria emerging victorious.

The two teams are now set to face off in the highly anticipated football final on Thursday, with the coveted gold medal on the line.

In the first semi-final match, Ghana faced off against Senegal in a thrilling contest that saw the home team secure a convincing 3-1 victory. Ghana started strong, with Tracy Twum scoring in the 18th minute to give her team the lead.

Ophelia Amponsah doubled Ghana’s advantage just before halftime, and although Senegal managed to pull one back in the 53rd minute through Kande, Amponsah’s second goal of the game restored Ghana’s two-goal cushion. Despite Senegal’s best efforts, Ghana held on to win 3-1 and advance to the final.

In the second semi-final, Nigeria faced off against Uganda in a closely-fought battle. The game remained deadlocked for most of the match, with neither team able to gain a clear advantage.

However, Nigeria finally broke the deadlock in the 74th minute through Judith Adaobi Okah, and Chiamaka Okuchukwu sealed the win with a late goal in the 89th minute, giving Nigeria a 2-0 victory.

As a result, Ghana and Nigeria will meet in the final on Thursday, reviving their historic rivalry on the football pitch.

The match is sure to be an intense and exciting encounter, with both teams determined to take home the gold medal.

Before the final, Uganda will face Senegal in the bronze medal match at 5 pm local time, hoping to end the tournament on a positive note.
